Schools I’ve applied to: UC Berkeley (reaching), Cal Poly Pomona, SF State, Fresno State (attended previously), Sac State, Humboldt, San Diego State
GPA: 3.4
Unfortunately I didn’t do so well at Fresno State (2.17gpa) but at Santa Rosa Junior College I have a 3.9 (Dean’s Highest Honors every semester). Giving me 3.4 overall for transfer.
I felt like my essays and letters of recommendation were strong. I wrote about my involvement in the community and my personal struggle with substance abuse and how I made it to recovery. (I don’t know if this was risky to do or not but I did anyways).
I work at Costco. (4 years now)
I have volunteer and internship experience at a nonprofit organization working as a case manager for homeless clients affected by AIDs. (approximately one year)
I just got my AA in social and behavioral sciences (High Honors) and I’m also working on an AA for Spanish. As well as a Human Services: Advocacy certification from SRJC.
I just got an email from SF saying they switched my application to my alternate major (Spanish) because social work is impacted. I know the decisions haven’t been made yet but I’m a little upset and just worried in general. I feel like my stuff from Fresno State makes me look awful.
If I got into SF would I be able to change majors? That is my first choice school. Also I’m worried I won’t get in anywhere.
Also just to add, I’m the president of a club on campus (Advocates for Social Change) but this happened last month after I applied to the schools. I don’t know if there’s any way that could still count for anything lol
