I just visited St. Olaf over spring break and liked it a lot. HOwever, I know they are becoming more selective. What are my chances of getting in? I am currently a junior, and I am also Lutheran.

SAT score: 2040
GPA: 3.96
I take almost all International Baccalaureate (IB) classes. These are treated the same as AP classes.
ECs: Speech and Debate, Jazz Band, Pep Band
Volunteer work: VERY active in youth group activities, Planned Parenthood Teen Board (work to educate people on STDs, safe sex, body image, mental health, etc.), food bank, next year I will work as a 'Volunteen' at the local hospital.

I work at a Lutheran Bible Camp in the summer that has a good reputation at St. Olaf. My admissions counselor was also a camp counselor there a number of years ago.

What are my chances?

You have a good chance. You have a good SAT score and grades, you are Lutheran, you have visited campus, and you have good ECs.

The only downside is that you appear to be female (St. Olaf is trying to get more male enrollees). You also did not say where you were from. If you are from Minnesota, it slightly hurts your chances. If you are from elsewhere, your chances may increase significantly.

You seem like a very strong candidate for Saint Olaf. I wil be attending Saint Olaf as a part of the class of 2014 and I was accepted with slightly lower stats than yours. However, I also live in Illinois. What John said is true, the college is trying to attract more men and out-of-staters, but I believe that with good essays and reccomendations that you should be fine.

If you decide that Saint Olaf is your top choice, I would reccomend applying ED, they will give you an estimate on financial aid and it will give you so much peace of mind! You would have to be 100% certain though, no one should apply ED if they are even the slightest bit torn between two schools.
