So I'm starting to get on these college applications, because I know time is going to fly by and admissions' deadlines will be here before I know it. What I'm wondering is, what are my chances of getting into Stanford? I have a 4.32 accumulated weighted high school GPA (a 4.0 non-weighted). My SAT score is a 2250 right now, and that's the one I took six months ago, the only one I've ever taken - and I've studied all summer for the SAT and plan to take it once or twice more this semester. Last year, I got a 5 on AP English Language and 4's on AP Biology and US History. I'm currently taking 6 AP classes and maintaining all A's. I was captain of the varsity swim team last year. I qualified for European EFSL swim championships in three events and competed in them in the Netherlands. I'm in NHS and FBLA, and I'm vice president of the senior class. I have all these ECs, and I live in Italy (I'm an American, but my father is in the military.) I've lived all over the US, and I've lived in Africa. I've traveled all over Europe and Africa. I have tons of volunteer service. I am a white male. I have two teachers who love me writing letters of recommendation; but, one of them who knows me very well (and all of my aforementioned information) keeps telling me the chances of me getting into Stanford are very slim. I was very confident before speaking with her. I know she'll still write a lovely letter of recommendation, but I want to know if she's right - which she may very well be - or if she's just saying this because she's never had a student get accepted into Stanford before. She tells me she's had students who got into Harvard who didn't get into Stanford. Any comments? Any advice to help increase my chances of getting into Stanford? Thanks so much in advance for your help.
