Based on your résumé, I would say that you have a reasonable chance of getting into Stern if you do not require financial aid. After you SAT subject test and IB results are determined, then we can judge more completely instead of a vague estimate. You should raise your SAT I score to at least >2100 to be safe. Check out the past Stern results thread on the forum- they have the resumes of accepted applicants to Stern in the past. As you can garner from there, it isn’t as competitive as you think.

Since you’re Taiwanese, I’m not sure why you would take the SAT subject test in Chinese, what does that prove? I would advise taking something like US history instead.

@blu5959 Thanks for your comments. My main focus is Econ & Business, but these subjects are not offered by SAI subject tests. I’m sure I won’t do well on US history and other subjects that I don’t take courses on, so Chinese is my only option besides Math and Bio. I am predicting that my IB score will be around 39~40.

@helenyang if you take SAT subject tests in subjects that you don’t take courses on, it will be impressive as they will realize this when assessing your application (assuming you receive a high score). That’s what I’m doing to apply to Stern if it is any help, I am even self studying 5 AP courses on top of my curriculum. I’m Taiwanese as well btw and I was advised by numerous sources including agents to don’t take Chinese so it’s up to you I guess. I think IB score of 40 plus your ECs should give you a chance of being admitted to Stern if your essays are not too bad and you should search the forum to find “NYU Stern results threads” as they contain the resumes of admitted and rejected applicants.
