My son applied Regular Decision to Stevens Tech (app was in before 11/1/18, but was unsure if it was his first choice at the time). We understand that he won’t receive his decision until late March. Wondering if anyone can give input on what they think his chances are to be accepted: 1360 SAT, 4.51 weighted GPA, all honors and AP classes, Fine and Performing Arts Academy for Music Technology in HS (although planning on majoring in Computer Science), extremely active outside of school for many years as a singer/musician, lots of community service/volunteer hours.
He went for the admissions interview in December, and has visited the campus twice (general tour, and academic tour for CS)
Stevens is now his first choice, so we are anxious to hear about other experiences you or your children may have had. Any input would be appreciated!
Hello!
I am a current freshman at Stevens planning to graduate in 2023 with Co-Op. I came in as engineering undecided because I wasn’t positive if I wanted to do biomedical or chemical engineering. I had a 1300 SAT, 29 ACT, 96 weighted GPA (we had a 100 point scale) and I was heavily involved with extra circulars and had two jobs. I applied regular decision and also had an interview on campus.
Stevens wants to raise their undergraduate student population. Construction will be underway by summer for a 21 story University Center which will house students and facilities alike (to put it into perspective, our current tallest building only has 13 floors and holds no students). It is set to be completed in 2021. Due to campus expanding they are accepting more and more students each year. In 2017, roughly 810 freshmen enrolled and that was the biggest class in Stevens history. In 2018, 1040 freshmen enrolled. To my understanding they are aiming for a 20% increase again for the class of 2023.
Your son is above average based off stats alone, I’d be willing to bet that I’ll be graduating alongside him when the year comes.
If you have any other questions about Stevens, let me know!
Amanda5321, how was your merit aid package?
For the class entering in 2017, Stevens Institute of technology reported 25% & 75% SAT scores of 1320 & 1470 respectively. 72% were in the top 10% of their high school class with respect to GPA.
Your son should be admitted.
Thank you SO MUCH for this info!! The waiting is tough, but all of this sounds reassuring!
What do you think my sons chances are in getting in. He applied RD, computer science.
95 unweighted/103 weighted, 12 aps, 6 CL all else honors.
1520 SATS, NMF.
I’m learning something new every day with this college adventure… Just heard that Stevens sent out “Likely Letters” in February. My son did not receive one. Guessing that’s not good news, but we’ll have to wait until 3/30 to know for sure. That’s when regular decisions are coming out.
Sounds like your son will be a slam dunk. Did he receive a “Likely Letter”?
He got waitlisted.
My son was waitlisted. He just received acceptance notification
