Hi, i am going to be a junior this year and my GPA right now is about a 90.5 out of 100. don’t know what that is on a 4.0 scale. I have taken AP European History and got a 4 on the exam. I am taking AP microeconomics, AP United States History, and AP language and composition next year. I’ve been on my school’s radio station for 2 years, and I have been in my drama club for 2 years as well. I plan on running for a leadership position on my radio station or drama club. I am aiming for at least a 30 on my ACT. If i meet all those potential requirements and hopefully raise my GPA do I have a shot?
I think that’s about a 3.7 on the 4.0 scale.
It’s hard to say with Newhouse I think it kind of depends on the year and there really isn’t a point in chancing someone if they don’t have test scores yet. I’m a Newhouse student. I just finishe my freshman year and at convocation we learned that they had accepted about 9% of the applicants. That being said, it always depends on how competitive the other applicants are in your particular year.
I don’t think you’re out of the running with your GPA although it is kind of on the low side for Newhouse. But just focus on continuing to get good grades and start studying for your ACT. There isn’t really a reason to chance you yet. Since you’re only halfway through high school and still have a lot more to do.
