Chances of getting into TAMU Engineering Program?

I’m currently going to a community college but I’m planning on transferring to a university for the Fall of 2018. My current GPA is a 3.447. I predict that by the end of this semester it will probably be a 3.5. I still have to take University Physics 1 and 2 but I’m taking them this Summer. I got a D in Calculus 1 took it again and got a B. I took calculus 2 and withdrew but I’m taking it now and I’m going to get an A. I know this will hurt my chances especially since it’s competitive and they only admit 40% of applicants.
Is there anything I could do to improve my chances of admittance? What are my chances now? I’m trying to get into environmental engineering

@dancel22 transferring to engineering is very tough. Dropped classes are frowned upon. A&Ms preferred method of getting more engineering students is through the engineering academies. By going to the academies you are co-enrolled at the engineering school and a local, community college. More info can be found here. http://engineering.tamu.edu/academies.html
My son is planning on attending the one at Blinn in Brenham. I started an engineering academy thread with more I formation.

@dancel22 I believe only starting freshmen are eligible to attend the A&M engineering academies.
Recommend that you first get the engineering transfer requirements and determine how you can satisfy them, particularly the freshmen ENGR classes that I expect wre on the list. Have you found these requirements? My son’s backup ideas besides an A&M engineering academy were to go to A&M system schools with engineering to get these classes. We looked at both TAMU-Corpus Christi and Tarleton. Another good source of info should be the transfer thread associated with this forum. I haven’t read many posts there, but those folks are all trying to transfer in, and many of them would be engineering students.
Please try to get some work or volunteer experience that shows sincere interest in engineering and join an engineering-related club or two. Try to demonstrate definite improving math performance. This transfer may be a little tough, so please dedicate time and effort to it.

You need to familiarize yourself with every link on this page
http://admissions.tamu.edu/transfer/apply

You cannot apply for Fall 2018 admissions, as the deadline for fall 2018 was March 1.
To transfer, You have to have at least Physics 218 completed (common course number Physics PHYS 2425 (lecture + lab) or 2325/2125-lecture and lab). You will not have that until summer. Spring 2019 transfer opens July 1, 2018 and closes October 15, 2018. Fall 2019 opens January 1, 2019 and closes March 1, 2019.

From the Course Transfer Course Sheet

Competitive applicants will have grades of A or B in math and science classes.
Competitive GPA requirements vary by major, with the majority exceeding the minimum requirements.
Not all majors consider second-choice majors. Research your major of interest before applying.
Spring admissions offers will be released in November.
Summer and Fall admission offers will be released in April.

Here is the link of the transfer course sheets. scroll down to engineering and click on the major you are wanting to see the requirements for that major. http://admissions.tamu.edu/transfer/majors

@dancel22 Engineering Academies take current students. You do not have to be a freshman. At least that is what the academy advisor at ACC told me.

My bad, thank you for clarifying, @Thelma2 and @trinley.
The TAMU engineering academies are the preferred transfer schools into TAMU engineering. Are you familiar with any of these, @dancel22? Are you a current student in a two-year school here in Texas? There are several engineering academy sites. Also, you do not have to transfer with freshman engineering, but it would be great if you could enroll in an engineering academy. It’s not too late for this for next Fall.

If going to an engineering academy is an option for @dancel22 then that would be the way to go for sure.

@MomHopesNxtGenAg @trinley Do the other academies ETAM, same as Blinn Engineering Academy? If that is the case, then it would be a transition to college station vs a transfer.

This suggests the academies all operate the same. I looked at one besides Blinn, and the exact same Entry to a Major wording is there.
That link lists all the current academy sites. As it indicates, these are unique transition programs here in the state and elsewhere. Definitely something to be excited about!
