I'm a senior and I am applying for UCF and the Honors College this year (2011-2012). I was wondering my chances of getting into the honors college, i have good grades but not the best test scores.

I got a 1810 out of 2400 and 1170 out of 1600 on the SAT and a 26 on the ACT.
I have a 3.7 unweighted GPA and a 4.6 weighted GPA.
Throughout high school I have gotten all A's and 3 B's and have taken 5 AP classes, and I'm taking 6 more next year.
Finally, I've played 2 varsity sports for 4 years along with a ton of community service.

I'm going to apply for the honors college as soon as I can, but I am very worried if I will get accepted because of my test scores. Does anyone have any idea of my chances? And is anyone in the program and have any tips for me?

I’m also in National Honor Society, Science and Math Honor Society, History Honor Society, English Honor Society, BETA, and Interact (community service clubs). And I’m President of the Medical program at our school

Your grades are good, but you should take advantage of the ability to retake the tests and try to raise your scores. You might be able to squeeze in on grades alone, but why risk it?

I was planning on retaking both the SAT and ACT, but the soonest test for the SAT is in October, meaning I wouldn’t get my scores until November, so I couldn’t apply until then. Is it bad to apply that late? Because I wanted to apply as early as possible, in September.

I’ll be applying for the honors college shortly and I don’t personally know anyone who’s been accepted, so I’m kinda nervous about it… Here are my stats though:

Unweighted GPA: 3.5
Weighted GPA: 4.3
SAT Math: 530
SAT Reading: 620
SAT Writing: 570
SAT Total: 1720
