Chances of getting into the honors program?

So I got the trustee scholarship and I applied for the honors program....but I read the booklet and it said they only take 100 freshmen? How hard is this to really get into? I have only 20 points below the sat average because of a poor writing score, but I did win plenty of awards at my school. Does anyone know how many people they turn away from this program, or what type of kids normally get in? Is anyone in the program now who can tell me what type of stats the kids currently in the program have?

I was at the overnighter this past week, and they told us the average GPA of students admitted to the honors program is a 4.25 and an average CR and M is a 1300.

The director said that of April 3rd, they had about 221 applicants, and they plan to accept about 150+, to hit their goal of about 100-120 honors students. I really want to get in too, but my scores aren’t quite that hot :/

Thanks so much for telling me! i got the sat score out of 1600 (1340 barelyyyyyyyy made it) but I was just worried about it out of 2400. Did they tell you anything about when the students will be notified of their decision?

I don’t believe they look at the writing score when deciding on the honors program  That’s a great score! Wish mine was that high lol

They promise to notify by the May 1st deadline… He also said that it’s a bad idea to wait, since housing is based on when you send in your deposit… so only wait if the honors program is a make-or-break deal!

what was the whole honors overnight thing like?

I really liked it TTwhite. We arrived, signed in, and went on a tour. When we got back, they separated the parents and the kids, and we got to talk to a panel of students, both honors and non honors. The parents left, we met our hosts, and spent the night doing various things. We personally went down to get food, went to get frozen yogurt, and just chilled and talked to them. The next day, I attending a Bio 190 class, listened to an information session about a lot of various things, they had a lunch in with current professors and such, and then we left.

Sounds unexciting when it’s typed out like that, haha, but it gave me a good sense of the school (it was more fun then it sounds, and I met a ton of cool people already), and sealed my decision to go :D
