I've applied to 8 schools. Stanford, Columbia, Penn, UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, and UCI. For the first three, I am not applying there with any reasonable or serious intent of getting in. Berkeley is my first serious choice and I really, really, really want to go there.

Also, I've been accepted to UCI, and I've received this letter about a UCSB Chancellor's Reception. I've heard from the people that went there that those who attended were accepted to the school, so can I assume that even though I didn't attend I'm in?
