Chances of Getting into UC Berkeley, UCLA

I've applied to 8 schools. Stanford, Columbia, Penn, UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, and UCI. For the first three, I am not applying there with any reasonable or serious intent of getting in. Berkeley is my first serious choice and I really, really, really want to go there.

Also, I've been accepted to UCI, and I've received this letter about a UCSB Chancellor's Reception. I've heard from the people that went there that those who attended were accepted to the school, so can I assume that even though I didn't attend I'm in?

wow if i got in with 3.9 and 1600 sat there is no way your not in

For UCB (and all other UC’s, I guess), your grades are set. However, your list of EC’s may harm you. It’s kind of true that once you reach a certain academic level, you are into the UC’s no matter what your EC’s are. Just something to take into consideration.

just mentioning, your background may harm you. i’m asian (female), and my school counselor (who’s also asian, go figure) has repeatedly told me that it’s becoming increasingly harder for Asians from California to get into the UC’s because they already have “enough” and they want more diversity. :'(
