Chances of getting into UC?

okay. I'm a junior in high school and my grades are average at best (mostly A's some B's and C's) --I have two semester C's.
atm,my unweighted gpa is 3.50 (i'm taking 2 weight classes...1 is ap)
my sat score is 1800---580cr/610m/610wr
I only have a few extracurriculars, no sports.
I'm hoping to get into the healthcare field, but still not sure which department/area yet.
At the moment, I'm aiming for UC Davis, but I fear that my grades and everything are not so impressive.
Do you think I could get into Davis/ what other UC's might I be able to get into? (exclude riverside/merced)

UCLA-highhhh reach
UC Berkeley- highhhh reach
UCSB- mid-reach…work on that SAT a little.
UC Irvine-low reach
UCSD-mid-reach

Why do you rule out riverside and Merced? Do you realize that both will have med schools very soon?

If I were you I would seriously consider Riverside if you’re serious about going into the medical field. You seem very self-aware as to your chances at a UC. UC Berkeley and UCLA admissions are hard to predict – often people who “should” get in do not. I wouldn’t invest too much emotionally in those campuses. UCSD should be your focus as a bit of a reach for a UC school with a good undergrad program with a track to med school – as a native San Diegan I can attest to the prime location and general prestige of the university. However, as crizello brought up, I would seriously consider Riverside as an option. They have had a guaranteed acceptance program with UCLA Medical School in the past, and from talking with one of the coordinators of the program recently I understand that they will likely be opening their medical school for admission next academic year. This means that they will open up the “guaranteed” slots for UCR students from 24 (about 1/4) of the graduating “Pre-med” class, to nearly 50 (about 1/2) of the graduating “Pre-med” students. With the exception of a few majors that are at the high and low end of the spectrum, just about all of the UC campuses are on an even keel for undergraduate work. There is a definite disparity as far as the offerings for graduate studies, but for undergraduate studies, there’s no reason you shouldn’t seriously consider Riverside. I am uneducated as to the standing of Merced’s medical school/undergraduate program so I am unable to provide you with any information there.

Edit to clarify: The “guaranteed” program with UCLA Med has 24 slots, that program will be dissolved and 50 spots in UCR’s medical school will be open to UCR undergraduates.

@connor wow, didn’t know that :o I’ll think about it.
I know it’s ignorant to exclude schools like riverside but it’s kinda sorta a pride thing too.
i.e. “What school is your son going to?” “Riverside” “ohs…”
~also why I’m aiming for UC’s and not state or city college.

You have a decent chance at riverside, merced, davis and irvine in my opinion, work on those extracurriculars though!

yeah I’m trying

UCD is already sort of a reach for you, so apply to all the UC’s you can. Also, think about CC transfer to UCD. I definitely understand the pride thing but Riverside and Merced might be able to set you up with the future you desire, maybe even better than Davis could (considering it might be easier to get a high GPA).

One thing to do: work on your SAT big time and take it as a senior. Try to make your SAT somewhat make up for your lowish GPA. Good luck!
