i want to major in econ @ uchicago, how difficult is it?
After that i want to get an mba at booth school of business.

So what do you think are my chances with good essays and similar sat's to my act's?

Stats are excellent. UChicago, however, places a LOT of weight on so-called “holistic admissions,” so there is no guarantee that a given set of stats is going to get you in.

They definitely care a lot about the essays because they’re looking for true intellects rather than grinds. Even still, I think Chicago is overhyped on this website. People on this site put it on par with the likes of Columbia. That’s only true for grad studies. The undergrad admissions reality is that Chicago is easier to get into. I got into the school without visiting or showing an ounce of interest.

You have a solid chance. You might benefit from not declaring that you want to major in economics(they’re inundated with wannabe economists/bankers every year). If you really want to do MBA at Booth you should consider doing undergrad elsewhere so you can experience two campuses(and save your undergrad gpa).

the thing about that is an economics degree from Uchicago is comparable to some Ivy League level schools (so they say) so i dont really want to get an undergrad degree elsewhere.
But yeah, i wont declare my major that quickly.

Finding other schools where you stand a better chance of admission, that you can afford, and that you are enthusiastic about attending (not saying you won’t get into UChicago, only that it’s chancy and you should not have all your eggs in that basket).

well u of i champaign is my backup and i have others in mind, i kind of meant like what stats will be my worst liabilities (act, e.c’s etcetera…) i still have time to improve those
