Would a 2.9 GPA at ccc major Business, Accounting likely to get into UCI, UCLA, Cal state Fullerton or UCBerkeley? or any other UCs?

Also since UCI and UCLA is a business econ major, when applying to those school what exactly do you do? Do you change your major as buss econ and minoring in accounting?

And is it true that UC's have minimum of 3.2 GPA to get in now? I heard that what they admission people do now, is that they first look at ur GPA and put them in two categories, one being higher than 3.2, worth looking at and lower than 3.2, automatic rejection?

Helpppp....

i got in ucr with a 2.68, so im pretty sure you can get in uci with a 2.9, and also im a lower division transfer student, which is much harder to transfer

A 2.9 has no chance at Cal, UCLA, or UCI for business econ. You might be able to get into Cal State Fullerton if you live close and can raise your GPA a little

I got denied from UCLA with a 3.9, econ major. You might be able to get into UCSC UCR and UCM

You have no chance at any of the uc’s you mentioned for your intended major. It is competitive because business related majors are extremely popular. I think you have a shot at riverside, sc and merced like deckoturf said and you could probably get into csu fullerton. Consider changing to a less competitive major or get your GPA higher to have more options

No chance with CAL, LA, and Irvine. You are competing against those with very high GPA (+3.9).

Bring your GPA up over a 3.0 this fall and try applying to UCSB for Economics and Accounting, and to Davis for Managerial Economics.

Not a chance with Berkeley, UCLA, and UCI. As for UCR, you have a great chance if you can get your GPA to 3.0 by end of the semester (TAG). Fullerton might be another story too because they tend to accepted students around the 3.2’s.
@LAforlife, I’ve talked to a UCSB’s representative. They told me their cut off GPA was 3.2 last year. I think it’s because they are already taking students with TAG with GPA of 3.2 and they want non TAG applicants to have a higher GPA.

@FallingDown

Either way, it’s worth a shot. But I forgot about Riverside, that would be a very good option for him. Davis is a possibility as well.

@Fallingdown , So it is true that UC’s do automatically reject transfer students whose GPA are lower than 3.2 ( the cut off)… ?

Is there anyone who’s ever gotten into Fullerton or UCI ( Business Administration) with 2.9 when applying and 3.0 or higher after updating the fall GPA?

@sskdfs24, That only applies for UCSB. It’s different for every UC schools. Some applicants with GPA of 2.8 got accepted to Davis! So don’t give up your hope.

@sskdfs24

No, it’s not. He was referring to UCSB specifically last year. You have a great chance to get into UCRs Business Admin program, and UCSC as well. You should also apply to Davis and UCSB just to see what would happen in my opinion. Also, remember that UCs will take into account your summer and fall grades, so you still have time to bring your GPA up.

@LAforlife, oo okay thank you. But is it true that UC’s dont except transfer students with GPA lower than 3.2 for Business Administration major? sorry I got every body confused for writing down business econ major at first.

@tinytank32, What is your major at UCR?

@sskdfs24

lol no, it’s just that Business Econ at UCLA, Haas at Berkeley, generally admit students with a 3.7+ GPA. UCI is like 3.5+. UCR and UCSC pretty much only need a 3.0, or even lower. You can TAG to UCSB and Davis with a 3.2, but that by no means means that if you have lower than a 3.2 you can’t get in. They admit people with lower GPAs all the time. Use fall and summer to boost your GPA, it will really help you.

@LAforLife, thank you so much for clearing that up. I was just so stressed out , because I heard that they just automatically reject transfer students below 3.2 and wont even look at their essay or anything. But yes, i’m definitely working on bringing up my GPA. I really want to go to UCI for Business Administration, but I can’t do TAG because its part of the majors that you can’t do TAG on Im just extremely worried. Also out of all the TAG at UC’s it says for UCI if you’re doing TAG you have to have 3.2 GPA by summer, while other by fall. :(

Ya, you would need like a 3.5+ for UCI. But, your GPA is fine for Riverside and UCSC.
If you bring you GPA up a bit, like say a 3.1, you would be very competitive for Davis and UCSB. If you get a 3.2, you could obviously TAG to UCSB or Davis.

@LAforLIFE, thank you for your help :D
