I’m a senior in high school in Southern California with a 4.13 weighted GPA, but the highest I can seem to get on the ACT is a 28 (SAT is an 1850). I’ve been doing cross country for four years (varsity for 3 years) and track and field for four years as well (varsity for three years). I am also an editor for my school newspaper, a 3-year participant of the mock trial club, and a member of CSF, and National Honors Society. I think community service is ok, I went on a service trip to Guatemala last year, actively volunteer at my church, and mentor freshmen academically and socially through a special program at my school. Should I have an ok shot at getting into UCSB? I’ve been dying to go there for as long as I can remember. I want to major in Political Science.
I would say you have a decent shot at UCSB, although they like high test scores. I put UCSB as a High Match. Write some great essays and they could give you that extra boost.

I think UCSB is a Match/High Match, because they like high test scores (probably more than GPA).
