...I know that the sociology class that I signed up for is really easy, so I'm worried that no one will want to drop it. For the freshman seminar, the size of the class is only 15 people! All seminars are already full. And finally for chemistry, I was #8 originally until they added more classes...so I'm afraid that that's it.

From your experiences, do they usually add more classes? And on average, how many people drop the first day (or first week) of class?

Rule of thumb is 10% of the class drops. From personal experience, they tend to open more spots based on need and availability. Did they open up spots previously? Can the listed classroom accommodate more students? Are all sections waitlisted past 5, or just a few sections here and there? Is the class difficult and usually dropped? These are the questions I tend to ask when I consider waitlisting.

At #1 you’re likely to get into your soci class, and you have a good shot at chem6a too. I don’t know about wcwp, but people tend to not drop out of writing classes like DOC. I would search for a just-in-case backup class and enroll the first day of school.

@momsky, ccnoob Thanks for the great feedback! Just got into sociology, and I will take you guys’ word of advice…I will drop WWCP for another GE.

If that GE class isnt full (or close to full) you can always just wait until school starts and add it as a fifth class. That way you still have a chance at getting in WCWP.(The odds are slim though. I would say ~30%)
