All of the above information is expressed in my UC/CSU application (whether in personal statement or fill-in transcript).

Don't get me wrong on this. My hopes are not high, as seen evidently by my GPA and provided information. It's not like I'm the type of person who believes that they have a 100% chance of getting into any school I'd like. I know that's not true. But it's something I think everyone's experienced at one point or another... curiosity, I guess. It's like this: although your mind may tell you, "It's just not realistically possible," there's always a part of you that says, "Maybe, just maybe." But that doesn't really mean that the "maybe" is always right, so I'll just call this curiosity.

So... chances? Even if I'm wait-listed or put on contingency or something? I'd appreciate the help :) Thanks.

Great chances at CSU’s and lower UC’s with your E.C’s and SAT/ACT. UCSD and UCI will be very difficult with that GPA, though you may get in with UCI with some killer essays.

I know this is from a while ago, but I’m wondering… How does the appeal process for UCI work, and what are the percentages of admission via appeals? Is it like you write a letter, or would you have to explain with a certain word count limit?

If I do decide to appeal, when would I usually here back?

Sorry if I sound a bit clueless :stuck_out_tongue: thanks for the help though! :)

There is definitely a chance. Nice ECs, course rigor, and test scores. The grades, in my opinion, are forgivable if you had extremely difficult circumstances junior year.

^I know UCD appeal decisions come out about two weeks after the appeal due date, so maybe Irvine’s is the same.

How about appealing to UCSD? I haven’t heard back from UCI, but I got rejected by UCSD. Is it worth appealing there? In my appeal is focus on the depression as well as other problems related to it.

I don’t think there’s any reason not to appeal to UCSD. I didn’t get in either and I appealed, it’s a 250 word count limit and it doesn’t cost or anything so you might as well try, it can only help you. Good luck!

What are your grounds for appealing? (Brace for honest truth) I honestly think there is no chance of you getting in, unless you have a really good reason for the appeal. Have you seem some of the rejects and watlisted kids on here? UCs do not like Fs and Ds at all, and you have a couple. Cs are terrible as well. When admissions looks at your junior year, all they see is that you can’t handle a college courseload. Your SAT scores are low as well. Unfortunately, ECs (of which you have many good ones) are not generally looked upon to change a decision unless they include sports or you’re on the cusp of admission.

Just out of curiosity, did you get into SLO?

I just sent in my SLO appeal, I wrote about my depression and its causes. Obviously I went into more detail, but I do understand what you mean. When I first applied, I sorta knew my chances were against (if not highly against) me. I’m actually betting that a lot of other students have the same or similar story as me, and still got better GPA’s and such.
I have not seen the rejections/waitlists; I haven’t spent much time here on the forums before xD
Thanks for the help, by the way!
