Hi everyone,

I recently applied to USC Columbia primarily because of the ballet program but also because it seems to be a great school, great city to live in, not to big but not too small, etc.

I currently have a 3.2 gpa, top 25%, sat scores 2070, lots of extracurriculars (serious ballet student but also have been a member of student council, science team and lots of science comeptitions, intercultural club, piano student, work and volunteer experience, etc). Also I am a National Merit Scholar semifinalist and was inducted into my school's NHS chapter (before my grades slipped). Somewhere in one of my personal statements I explained that my dip in grades in junior year (due to a clinical depression and anxiety problem that became pretty serious but is now resolved) affected my gpa and that I feel my transcripts do not fully reflect my potential. I have always taken AP and honors classes, or the highest level my school offered for every class except math. Also, I believe my gpa will be higher when the guidance department recalculates GPA in January by including first semester senior grades, but I am not sure if these new transcripts will actually get sent over.

So, you've pretty much seen all the information the admissions officer will see, given that USC is a state school and does not allow much room for a personal touch on the application. Any ideas/personal experiences/thoughts on my chances of acceptance would be very appreciated! I would appreciate honesty too..if its more likely that I won't get in, I'd like to not get my hopes up about the school and the dance program only to be crushed in March!

Thank you very much and sorry for such a long post D:
