I would like to know if I have any chance at all of getting into a University. I live in Michigan and I am a high school junior, soon to be Senior. Unfortunately I really messed up high school. Up until now, I've been getting a lot of F's and D's. There have been a lot of personal issues during my whole high school time, and I guess I was kinda suffering from depression. I didn't care about life, school, or friends anymore. But now for some reason I'm starting to get better and be happier. I really, really regret messing up high school and I plan on getting A's and B's during my remaining school time. I got a 19 on my ACT, but I plan on retaking it. Here are the universities I want to attend for business administration and management. What are my chances? Trust me, I will do anything I can to improve my chances. Thinking about doing volunteer work, doesn't that help? I will dedicate my whole summer to doing whatever it takes to make my college applications look better.

Central Michigan University
Western Michigan University
Wayne State University

I'm also interesting in going to an out-of-state college:

Ohio University
University of Central Florida

I don’t really have any chance at all, do I?
Community college will probably be my only choice right now.

I think that if you work hard and get those A’s and B’s and do some studying for the ACT’s I think you definitely have a good chance. Also, in essays if there is the opportunity to explain what happened take it! They will like that and it will definitely increase your chances.

HEY! my brother goes to wayne. we both live in the metro detroit area as well.

He kinda messed up his first two years, getting a D and a few C’s, but he stepped it up his junior year and got accepted to wayne. He did have a 33 on his ACT though. Lack of effort, not intelligence, it seems.

If you got F’s in certain courses, you didn’t receive the credit for graduation anyway. As bad as it sounds, why don’t you try retaking one year of highschool and retaking those classes. The only other alternative would be to take summer courses. Your ACT does need a little work, but statistically speaking 19 is within the range for the national average. I think you do have a shot at Western or Central. Wayne might be a stretch but try for it anyway! you could try to excel at an extracurricular as well.

I’m not sure you would make it into any Big Ten university. I have no idea about central florida.

Best of luck!

Thanks for replying to me guys! You both just motivated me even more. Also, I’m taking care of the classes I failed so that’s one less thing to worry about. The ACT I want to get is at least a 23 or 24.

I would really like to go to an out-of-state university though. I have lived in Michigan my whole life and it would be a good change for me. So I might just to to a community college for a year, get the best grades I can and then transfer to a university. Will that improve my chances any?

Going to Community College for two years and getting good grades would definitely help and definitely a cheaper option too. Good luck!
