Chances of getting into UT Austins Petroleum Engineering program

I'm rank 41 out of 708 so I'm already accepted and whatnot, but what are my chances of getting into the petroleum engineering program?

I've done tours at UT and such, (dunno if that helps show I'm interested)

I have a 3.53/4.0 unweighted GPA

In State/Auto Accepted

Request any other information and I'll be happy to add it on.

Your SAT might bring about your demise. Your math score is great, but your other two are seriously lacking–especially reading. Your ACT is much better, so that might help though. Keep in mind that petroleum engineering is one of the most competitive major at UT, so if you dint get accepted, don’t kill yourself over it.

When did you apply?

Sent from my Desire HD using CC App

I applied around 2months before the deadline. And yeah…the reading…meh :/

Your math should make up for it a little bit though. You haven’t received any sort of notification?

A 690 math doesn’t do much making up honestly. Your ACT score is better and will be the only one that matters anyway.

Go ahead and apply but I would definitely have a back-up plan ready.

My UT EID still says i’m auto accepted, but they haven’t decided on my major yet. Same thing with another friend of mine who applied to the petroleum engineering program but he’s in the top 2% and a 2100 SAT.

That’s why I told you that it was competitive. They probably won’t make the decisions till probably mid January at best. That’s usually how it goes for competitive majors.

What happened? Result? Did you get accepted?

I got accepted OOS for undeclared major. I want to do mechanical engineering. How hard will it be to get into the engineering school?
