I generally had a spotless high school academic record. I was the student council president. I also have two International Olympiad medals(Astronomy and earth science), several national olympiad medals and have recently mentored the national team at another International Olympiad(IESO2017). I would need a high amount(possibly more than 90%)of financial aid to study at Vanderbilt. I haven’t taken the SAT yet , but I’m aiming for a 1550+ score. If I do accomplish that, what are my chances of getting into Vanderbilt in Early Decision?
I really cannot calculate anyone’s chances of admission, but I will tell you that Vanderbilt’s admission is not need-blind, but need-aware for international apps. Applying for financial aid will affect your chances of admission, but you can compensate for that by having high test scores, a great GPA, essays, recommendation letters etc. Many of my international friends receive generous need-based financial aid. I would highly recommend applying for the Cornelius Vanderbilt scholarship, a full-tuition merit scholarship that is need-blind. If you focus your app and essays on your STEM strengths, that will greatly increase your chances of admission.
