I'm an out of state junior with a 3.4 GPA and an 1800 SAT score. Plus I do community service, started a club at my school, and placed third at a regional science fair. I know my GPA isn't great but I was wondering how likely it would be for me to get into Virginia Tech.
Thanks

What did you put as your intended area of study? It makes a difference, and your numbers are a bit low against the averages for accepted students.

I’m going in for Business

I don’t know for GPA, but for SAT you’re exactly in the average of accepted students. What’s your SAT breakdown ??

540 Writing, 680 Math, 580 Reading

We were told that Business is not super competitive like Eng, but not dying for students, either. Still, the best gauge for you is to look at your own hs acceptance history and data for VT (ask your counselor). It makes a big difference. VT makes no secret that GPA is the main consideration first in the context of your school’s profile.

Our gc’s recently got us using naviance which can tell you what people from your school that got accepted or denied were like and for my school the average GPA was a 3.41 and the SAT score was a 1610. It was a small sample size but its encouraging

Wow, you know what it is for my hs? Five years of data gives an average 3.96 WGPA and average ACT of 30 for acceptance. Just goes to show you that the best guess is from within your specific environment.

Wow that’s a big difference. I guess all input needs to be taken with a grain of salt considering how different one area could be from another
