Thinking of Carleton, Madison, Northwestern, U of Chicago, Grinnell, Cornell, Buena Vista, Lawrence.....Ivy Leagues?

^But both Grinnell's and UChicago's numbers are deceptive. UChicago rejects more high scoring kids than Grinnell does, because UChicago process and their uncommon app weed out a lot of kids really early. It's a self selective sort of place.

And I think a lot of Grinnell's applicant pool comes from its lower achieving home state, from which they are able to reject a bunch of kids.

That said, Wisconsin is SO much easier to get into than Grinnell.

Your profile is good enough to give you a serious consideration from Chicago (and I assume if it's good for Chicago... it's good for any other elites, though comparing notes among friends has led me to think that Northwestern/Ivies are much more stats-based). What will get you in, and not merely considered, though, are your essays. Make sure they reflect who you are, and if you take one of Chicago's uncommon application essay prompts and have fun with it, the better.

generally, schools with comparable test scores and acceptance rates are considered to be equally competitive. saying chicago rejects more high scoring kids than grinnell is very subjective. one can say the same thing about many chicago's applicants being from 'its lower achieving home state.'

here's what i think;
Ivy Leagues- big reaches (not worth trying)
Carleton, Northwestern, U of Chicago, Grinnell, Cornell- reaches (i'd narrow down to 3 schools. chicago or northwestern/ grinnell or carleton/ cornell)
Lawrence- match (i'd add a few more solid matches like knox, denison, earlham, wooster or beloit)
Buena Vista- safety (one is more than enough)
