Chances of getting merit scholarship?

I'm not sure if I'd even get in, but many people have been telling me I will. If I am accepted, does anyone know if I have a chance at getting any scholarship money...

Out of State: (NJ)
GPA: 4.0 Unweighted: 5.316
SATS: 1220/1600 ..eek 1820/2400
Rank: 40/652 ...about top 5-6%
Many extracurricular activities such as 4 yr varsity soccer starter, national honor society, national honor society officer, student council, renaissance...etc.

UMCP is not known for being particularly generous with merit money. I don’t know what you are interested in, but UM Baltimore County seems to give out a lot more money and many of the top public school kids go there.

^ I second MD Mom… UMCP is sadly very stingy w/ money, as other prospective students have told me. UMBC on the other hand, is indeed where a student can get quite a bit more Fin. aid. And a lot of great students go there.

UMBC gives a LOT more money; I know one person who has gotten merit money out of probably twenty I know who go, and all of them had higher stats than you (no offense lol).

Plus, a lot of people like UMBC more. I’m not sure why, but more of my friends who go to UMBC are happy there than my friends who go to College Park. Not to say that anybody is particularly unhappy where they are, the UMBC kids just seem more enthusiastic about it.

Your grades are great, but UMD goes a lot by numbers, and your SAT scores may take you out of the running for merit $$ at UMD.
