Found out that I was waitlisted a few days ago. What are my chances of getting accepted into Tisch off the waitlist?

No one can answer your question except to say that if you restricted your studio choice to the MT studio, you have fewer possibilities than if you said you were also open to placement in any of the acting studios.

I was PMed by a mother who has a daughter in the NSB who got in off the wait list. So it is very much possible. I also was open to placement in the other acting studios, so hopefully that increases my chances even further.

Alistaire, I think the lack of comments is due to the fact that a waitlist is a fairly recent thing at Tisch and so, there isn’t much history. It used to be that they accepted far more than the number of spots because their yield history told them how many were likely to enroll. I don’t know if they’ve reduced their number of offers now that they have a waitlist or not, but if not, then they’d have to have many students not accept an offer before they were able to go to the waitlist. It might be worth a call to Tisch to inquire as to what the likelihood is, how many are waitlisted, is it for every studio, and any other questions you’re likely to have. Good luck.

Alwaysamom, thanks for the tidbits of info – they were really interesting. I’ve already emailed Tisch with some questions. If they indeed have ceased over accepting with the addition of the wait list, then that’s good news for me.

I don’t know if they are still grossing the acceptance numbers to yield and then have a waitlist or not either. Good questions to ask Tisch directly as suggested above. In terms of timing though (and sure, waiting is painful) it would be unlikely for anyone to hear about waitlist status until sometime after the studio assignments come out (which haven’t I think yet) and even then, not until after May 1st. If you go to the NYU admissions page you will see a blog written by admissions that says they won’t be considering anyone from the waitlist until after 5/1 when they have a sense of their yield. Makes for a long month of April I know but hang in and all the best!

I have not received any emails or notifications regarding my current admissions status. Has anyone else who is on the waitlist for BFA ACTING at Tisch received anything? Does anyone know when they will be notifying people? This is the most nerve wracking experience of my life!!! Anyone else agree??!
