<p>My son is a junior and wants to go ivy or ivy like (MIT, Stanford)</p>
<p>I put his stats below- and as you can see, his SATs, GPA, etc. are in the 'ranges' for these schools. </p>
<p>However, I understand that he needs something extra to make him stand out. Unfortunately, he really doesn't. </p>
<p>So, his plan (right now) is to apply to 5 or 6 and he figures that chances are he will get into one of them...I am not so sure... Your thoughts?</p>

<p>ECs: Baseball year round, Habitat for Humanity, Mock Trial, French Honor Society, Key Club, Math Club, AMC competition. </p>
<p>...he passes up many opportunities such as Governors school because of summer baseball..</p>
<p>at any rate, I guess it is possible to have the 'stats' he has and get rejected by all the top schools, hu?</p>
