Chances of getting rescinded?

So, I was accepted today under the Pre-sociology major, with a 3.7 W GPA.

However, I'm worried about my grades from last term. I received a D+ in my AP Art History class, one of the most difficult classes on campus. I wasn't slacking off, it was a genuine difficulty with the material. In addition, my grandmother developed Alzheimers, which advanced rapidly. Several days a week in November, my parents and I would go straight from school to her home forty-five minutes away to take care of her. This put a huge stress on my, both time-wise and emotionally, and my GPA dipped under a 3.0 W, plus I received that D.

Now, this term, we've worked out a better situation and my grades are much higher, if I can keep it up for the next three months I'd have well over a 3.0 UW.

What are my chances of being rescinded from UCSB? If I call the admissions office and explain my situation, as well as my improvement, what will they think?? Art History is my third Fine Art, so I've more than fulfilled that requirement. I've heard that they are more forgiving of a bad grade 1st semster if you show great improvement in the second semester.

In addition, my lower grades were in AP classes; If I perform well on the AP tests, does this help at all?

Thanks!

you should be fine.

the most important part to avoid getting rescinded is to call the admission’s office soon.

if you get a D in english though, that is a major uh-oh, because english is a 4-year A-G requirement. . .

Can I call or email?
And thank you for your quick reply!

call. be a human being in something this important than be another author of a blob of text lol.

they will probably direct you to email an admissions officer. . .

further note edit: yea, no problem.

i was in your shoes once in fear of getting rescinded. . .twice. one – for getting a D in ap english second semester, and two: missing a full semester of foreign language requirement thanks to a CC fockup. -__-

Harry, can you go to the admissions office and plead for Chandy, beg them if you have to …

only for your life. bahahaha

This is something chandy will have to do on his own. but he can go to me for guidance and hindsight.

Plus. . .this quarter will be very, very, very, very busy for me. -___-

um i got a D my senior yr last semester because i was effing lazy
and i sent a pathetic email begging them and they didnt care as long as its only one D

now i have over a 3.95 gpa at sb :D

Okay, these really reassured me. Thanks everyone. I’ll call and probably send an email just to be sure, in case I can’t properly convey the situation. Thanks again.

by the way, I’m a girl  Chandy is just a nickname lol

oh. sorry about that chandy lol.

hey chandy i am kind of in the same boat as you. I am wonder what did the admissions people say to u
