I took my first SAT as a junior this October and came back with a disappointing 1940:
CR: 610
M: 710
W: 620 (MC 57/ Essay 11)

I've been practicing over summer and thought I had a good shot at getting at least a 2100.I'm a pretty able student with a 4.0 GPA. The results scared me and put me into panic mode. I'm sort of forcing myself into taking the December SAT and try to improve my score. As a student abroad, if I don't take the December SAT I'll have to wait until May since I can't take the one in January.

Should i take it? and is it even possible to have a 200+ points jump in just 40 days?

I got a 180 point increase in 14 DAYS…starting with a 1800, then my CR skyrocketed 100 points for the third try, but the math and writing fell 60 and 50 points respectively.
Still a superscore of 1460 or regular score 1400…(schools I’m looking into do not look at writing)

I went from a 1970 (690 680 600) to a 2170 (690 750 730) on my SAT. I even only got an 8 on my essay (i sware to god i deserved a 12, I received 12 from Princeton Review on my essays and I thought the essay I wrote on exam day was the best i’ve ever written. I even had a good 5 minutes to just check it over, make it neater and correct mistakes). Its totally doable, and I totally feel I deserve maybe even higher considering i only had an 8 on my essay.

I’m usually good at reading, but I was able to improve my writing drastically through a bit of studying and taking an online princeton review course.

Admittedly, when I first took the SAT, it was almost full year ago and I didn’t care too much so I didn’t study hard. After i had that wakeup call I really started focusing. I didn’t begin studying for the SAT until July though so, you really can improve your score by a lot.

I definetly feel I could’ve gotten a lot higher especially in writing.

I am in a similar situation, i went from an 1810 to 1970 (October SAT; CR - 610 Math - 650 Writing - 710 MC 70 Essay 9) but now I’m taking the SAT one last time in December. Is it possible to jump to a 2100 by then, and if so, any advice?
