Purdue might be a stretch, depending on you SAT scores. According to their web site - " Students admitted to the College of Engineering for Fall 2017 had an average combined SAT in the middle 50% range of 1350-1470. Of the students that enrolled, 50% had a GPA between a 3.94-4.0". My daughter was admitted with 1400/3.8 4 APs and nothing extraordinary regarding other facets of her application. If you can get your SAT to 1350, then I’d say it’s in range. 1190 is unlikely and 1250 is still a significant stretch.

VT is more in the target range. GPA is good and their middle 50% is about 1280-1450. Better than 1250 would improve your chances, but I think the academic rigor puts you in range as a possible with a 1250.

We didn’t apply to the other schools you listed, but just from a quick overview, JMU looks like a good fit with your current data and 1250 would put you in very good position. GMU looks similar.

Thanks, yeah my top choice right now is jmu as I’ve been there several times and they have one if the best programs for my major in Virgina

Had a 3.6 gpa by my senior year. 1150 on my SAT. Got into William and Mary. Shoot for the stars and you will make it in.

Nmolly, it helps to think about where you want to work. Will you be staying in VA after graduation or would you like to relocate. Outside of VA people may not have heard of JMU or GMU. Also, don’t sell yourself short. Apply to some top schools. Finally, what do you want to achieve. Tech is a good school but do you want to be an engineer? It’s fine if you do. Don’t let anybody’s parents on these sites tell you what you can achieve. You appear to be hard worker and I would take that on my staff any day. I work with consultants that have a lot of kids fresh out of the Ivies. They are brilliant and real quick learners but do they work hard?..sometimes. PHY’s advice is great. I know students that got turned down by W&M with a 1350 SAT and 4.5 all AP GPA but PHY got in. Good for PHY! Who knows what colleges are looking for? Best of luck to you!
