Hey, I'm applying to the College of Arts and Sciences at NYU, and i'm applying Early Decision
-I have about an 87.5 gpa
-a 28 ACT score (which is in the 92-93rd percentile)
-total of 3 APs in high school - Calculus, Environmental, Economics (4 AP tests)
-I'm in several volunteer programs and extracurriculars, including a Club that I founded and am President of (SAT/ACT club)
-my resume is about a page long at most though
-I have a very original essay, it's about life's trivial moments and how the incidents we take for granted are the ones that shape us. I give some examples of my life was changed by unsuspecting, ordinary instants. How one small thing can have substantial effects on the lives of others. Therefore, if i perform one kind deed it can only be abundantly beneficial...yadda yadda. (It's about a page and a half long, single-spaced. I called a counselor and they said that's fine)
-I wouldn't mind being placed in the general studies program
-I'm on the NYU mailing list (I don't know if this would increase my chances)
-I'm applying Early Decision ( I mentioned this earlier, but it's worth noting again)

So what do you think my chances are?
I'm also applying to Cornell University, Boston University, George Washington University, Binghamton, Stony brook, Albany, Geneseo, Syracuse and Hofstra

Oh and by the way, money is not a problem. My folks will be able to afford everything.
I am also a Middle Eastern Male living in Long Island, if that helps

BUMP
i'm surprised nobody has responded yet

Really? Maybe it's because your thread is pretty self explanatory. You're a Long Island kid hoping to go to NYU on daddy's dollar. Your stats are average and there's really nothing on which anyone can comment. You have a pretty good chance, I guess.

I don't see where it says that he's from LI, or that he's a legacy/donor of any sort.

But without any SAT IIs you can't get into NYU.

and i dont understnad why youre tking the ACT if you live in the northeast. i mean, colleges state that they will accept either one, but from my counselors experiences, they expect the SAT if u live in the northeast

that being said, your gpa is meh, your ecs are meh, your act score is meh

nyu = reach
cornell: reject

thats crap, they won't care if you take the ACT over the SAT if you live in the northeast, just because one is more commonly taken. You are in both of their ranges for the ACT. Just don't come off as a prick in your essays, and you should be ok. They will however want to see SATII's.

LOL i completely missed the post under. Nice.

yeah i'm taking 3 SAT 2's this saturday
Math 1, Lit, US History
sorry i forgot to mention those
