Hello, Im a sophomore currently with a 3.8 gpa year and a 4.2 gpa last year. What are my chances of getting into UCI/UCSB/UCSD? I am currently in Kiwins (community service), GDPT (a boy scout program), and I coach basketball in the summer. Here are my classes:

Are you a CA resident? do you already have your first semester grades? I think it is way too early for this; your freshman grades don’t count and one semester’s grades (if that) are not enough to be “chanced”. Just get the best grades you can and start prepping for the SAT/ACT and you should be fine.

Yes I am a CA resident. OK do you what is the “cut” for the gpa in these schools?

There is no cutoff GPA at any of these schools. UCs only count your 10th & 11th grade GPAs, and you’re still in your sophomore year. Moreover, you haven’t even taken the SAT/ACT yet. Way too early to tell, but if you work really hard I’d say schools like Berkeley and LA would be well within your sights.

According to your list it looks like you are dropping MUN your junior year and your honors English as well. You might consider taking AP English since passing it might help you get out of a university writing requirement/class. And MUN looks good - the students tend to be well rounded in world events, something colleges like to see.

And I agree it’s a bit early to chance you yet.
