hi, i'm a rising senior trying to figure out my college list. i'm trying to find financial safeties and since i don't like any of the publics i've seen (they're way too big), i'm trying to find small LACs that are likely to give me merit aid.

My Stats: GPA: 4.36 W, ~3.85 UW (they don't really tell us every year) SAT: **2350
**SAT IIs: 800 Math 1, 800 US History ECs: **GSA (4 years), Amnesty International (2 years), Chorus (3 years), Photo Club (2 years), A Capella Group (1 year, starting next year b/c quit chorus)
**Leadership: Copresident of GSA (2 years), Urgent Actions Coordinator for Amnesty (1 year + half a year as interim secretary) Awards: French Honor Society, Community Service Award (50-100 hrs), George Washington University Book Award

with these stats, how likely do you think it would be for me to get merit aid at gettysburg?

My son had stats a little lower than yours and got $15,000 per year from Gettysburg. He was HS class of '10 so this info is now a year old. Also, I think it helped that he’s a boy.

I saw you put the same question on the Dickinson forum. You have a great chance there, too, I think.

BTW, my D will be applying to Gettysburg and Dickinson, too. (Also Muhlenburg. Good merit aid there. At least it looks like it.)

I’m assuming your son was awarded the Abraham Lincoln Scholarship, because I think It was $15000 last year. This year it was bumped up to $25000 a year, renewable with 3.0 gpa. (2.75 for first year.) Good news for your upcoming applicant!

OP, I would think you have a very good shot at this. My daughter did not take the SAT II, and we used her ACT score, but her stats are somewhat similar to yours. Have you visited the school?

Hello, I’m actually attending Gettysburg this fall. I had a 3.81 GPA Weighted and scored a 1980 on my SATS (1340 for Math and CR) and was given a $15,000 Merit Scholarship. You look like a very strong applicant so I’d expect you to get what I did or the $25,000 Abraham Lincoln Scholarship. Good luck!

I’m attending Gettysburg this fall as well. I had a 5.21 weight an 3.85 unweighted and 2130 on my SATS (1410/1600) and was given the $25,000 Abraham Lincoln Scholarship.
With your statistics you’d get a merit scholarship, probably the highest based on your SATs alone.
Just make sure that you show interest with the colleges that you are trying to get merit from such as visiting and interviewing if possible.
Good luck!
(If you are looking for the same information at Dickinson, I got a 15,000 scholarship there, so in my experience Gettysburg gave better merit)
