I am an international student from India and have applied to all UC’s for Economics (Irvine was Business Administration)
SAT score- 1160 (extremely low, I understand) Essay was a disaster (3,3,4)
Academics- 78% in Class 9th, 93.4% in Grade 10th (School topper) but class 11th sucked at only 51%. 12th was also not very good when I applied at 56%. Now, have received an exact 90% predicted and will most probably score this much.
I have good EC’s and SOPs were also kinda unique.
(In Indian curriculum Grade 11th is not given much importance, so usually many of us don’t fare well. But my marks were almost cut half) xD
TOEFL 92 (R- 23, L-24,S-20,W-27)
Sorry for taking your time, I have already been accepted by UC Merced. What are my chances in other campuses( especially UCSC? (Berkeley and UCLA are 0.00% xD)
Thanks in Advance <3
The single most important factor in UC admissions is grades, as measured on a 4-point GPA scale. Don’t know to translate your grades from India onto that scale, so not possible to gauge your chances quantitatively…
As per the most recent Common Data Sets, enrolled students at UCM, UCR, and UCSC typically have SATs as follows (25th and 75% percentiles):
UCM: 910 - 1130
UCR: 940 - 1190
UCSC: 1160 - 1370
So an 1160 SAT is above average for students at UCM and UCR, but below average at UCSC. On the other hand, UCSC has not historically been a very popular campus for international students, and so there has been a relatively high acceptance rate for those that do apply.
