Hi guys. I'm not a great test taker, I've never had below a 100% average in a math course yet the highest I got on my SAT was a 540; I just don't test well on math. Regardless, I plan on applying EDI (if I have some semblance of a chance it's there) and with no financial aid or anything like that. I'm only interested in stern.

GPA: 3.85 (on 4.0 scale)

Top 25% (potentially higher now haven't gotten an email back from the school) of my class

SAT super scored: 1770
Math: 540
Reading: 620
Writing: 610

AP English and Comp. Exam: 4

Honor societies & clubs:
National honor society
National science honor society
National quill and scroll honor society
National English honor society (VP)
Photography Club (P)
Key club
Literary magazine (editor)

I have several national awards in photography as well.

I'm currently employed by a NYC prominent multimillion dollar real estate firm directly under one of their top producing agents.

Community service hours: 258 and growing

Do I have a chance if any at all? I want to raise my SAT but it won't make it to the school until after the application deadline. The SAT date itself if on the nov 1st deadline. Is there anything you guys think I can do to improve my chances?

Yes u have a chance good luck

Scores are way too low. Other than raise scores to 2200+ only thing you can do now is to write a killer essay. Frankly, I’d say its a long shot to get in w/ those stats unless you have something spectacular (national level awards or something).

Does NYU allow me to submit SAT scores after ive applied?

Yes - I believe you can take SATs until the Jan Date and rush those in

Many Stern kids have 2300+. And being top 25% or even 10% is not enough, unless you are going to Stuy or maybe Canada’s St. George’s.

I’m not sure if they have a minimum SAT score cutoff line, but I suppose they do. It’s just like how investment banks have a minimum GPA requirement, and they just throw out your resume without looking if you don’t pass the minimum. So I suggest you to retake SAT or take ACT.

ECs look good, but you can’t give them a “wow,” because a) they are not interviewing you and you cannot tell them stories and b) there are many people who have trading experiences, founding a website or business, or from wealthy families. So you have to write a “DAMN GOOD” essay. Good enough to make them take your brilliant idea worth of more than 1 million, but please don’t write anything about investment banking because this is Stern School of Banking.

Also, if you suck in taking tests, you will have a survival problem facing the “Stern curve.” You really have to find out your best study pattern or you will get totally wiped out by try hard Sternies.
