Chances of NYU (Stern)?

I am (White) currently a junior at a Catholic high school in Pennsylvania

Grades: 4.0 scale (An A in an AP class is a 4.3)
Freshman- Somewhere around a 3.9 (B first semester in math) - All honors classes
Sophomore- 4.0 - All honors
Junior (so far)- 4.1 - 4.2 (Don't have exact calculation from office) - 3 APs (Lang, Chem, Euro), the rest are honors

I'll be taking 5-6 APs next year

SAT: 1970

Not happy with this score, CR is my downfall (640), but I've been practicing that and math (~750 on practice tests) and plan on increasing it by at least 100 this Saturday

ACT: 33 Composite

Very happy with this score. I didn't do relatively well on science (28) compared to the rest, but I'm confident that if I improve that and my essay (8) I can at least increase my composite to a 34.

Class Rank: 16/296 (~5%)

EC's:

DECA (school just started club this year): 4th place in district competiton in Principles of Finance event, advanced to state competition where I placed 3rd in my event, and in doing so have advanced to (and will participate in) the international level of competition (ICDC) being held in Atlanta. I'm also going to run (and confident in being elected) for a leadership position within my school's chapter next year.

4 years running cross country

NHS (11,12)

Community Service Club homeroom rep (4 year member, 3 year rep)

Volunteer every Monday (~1.5 hours) teaching CCD (religious education)

Ambassadors club

Last year, advanced to county science fair (1st place) and then district science fair.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Thanks for any feedback!

New York University - Low Reach

You are a well qualified applicant for NYU, but your current application does not seem to be all that unique, especially considering how competitive NYU admissions can be. Your grades look good, but only honors classes during your sophomore year is going to weigh you down. 3 APs your junior year isn’t that great either. Your EC’s aren’t bad, but they are quite common. Your class rank is pretty good, so that’s an upside. Your SAT is average for the applicant pool to NYU. ACT looks decent. It’s good that you are volunteering. Hopefully you have around 300+ hours by now.

NYU is a difficult school to get into, but one thing they definitely look for in applicants is dedication to something, and leadership in what you are dedicated to (judging from the guy that made it in from my school last year). Good luck with the admissions process.

NYU Stern: Match (used the 33 on the ACT)

Don’t send SAT. Its a high match but Stern is a prestigious business school

Great app, yet its missing something that pops out. More leadership positions never hurt. In fact it will very much benefit you.
