yeah i just got ACT scores and i got a 24

I think you’ve got an excellent chance of getting in – almost a sure thing. You need a 3.4 GPA to have guaranteed admission (no essay required) but with a 3.3 and solid test scores you should have no problems. UO likes OOS students. If you’re a senior apply right away as they have rolling admissions. Also, if you get in go ahead and reserve a dorm room even if you’re not sure you’re going. Their dorms fill up and you don’t want to be left without one.

even with a weighted 3.3? yeah im glad i got a 24…it looks way better than that measly 1480

Just make sure your high school puts the weighted GPA on your transcript, because that’s what UO will look at.

o okay and is there a spot where u download the concelor form on the onlinne app because i cant find it

I don’t think there is a counselor form required. Just ask the office to send your official transcript to UO Admissions in a sealed envelope (and ask to make sure they include the weighted GPA). Other than that you need to have SAT or ACT scores sent directly from the testing company and your application including essay.

cool…i probably cannot apply until a few weeks cuz my mom wants to see the essay reviewed will that hurt me?

Are you asking if it will hurt you to apply a few weeks from now, rather than right away? If so, no, it won’t hurt to wait a bit.

alright so as long as i apply before the early decision i should be good right?

Applying by the early notification date will get you an earlier response to your application. You can also apply later for the regular notification cycle. But if you’re shooting for early notification, as long as your stuff is in by the Nov. 1 deadline, it’s not going to matter if it’s 2 days before the deadline or two weeks before… or even 2 minutes before, for that matter.

I was told by an ad com to have a letter of recommendation sent if i was concerned about my son getting admitted (his stats are borderline) so you might want to do that anyway. It can’t hurt. There is no official form, though.

Elizabethh, if you don’t mind would you tell us a range of what they consider “borderline”?

His gpa is 2.92. They didn’t ask about his test scores, but he will probably end up with around a 1600/2400 on the SAT (taking again in November), or around a 24 on the ACT. I think they were basing it solely on the fact that his gpa is not 3.0.

so should i get a letter of recommendation as well?

Corb67, you might want to call the admissions office and ask, but it couldn’t hurt, imo.

Personally, I don’t think you need a letter of recommendation. You are so close to the “guaranteed admit” GPA that I think you are almost a sure-thing for admissions. I’d go ahead and get the application in as soon as you can so you get word back from them quickly. And remember, once you get in go ahead and reserve a dorm room. I know too many people who waited until April and then couldn’t get a room.

hi,

just wanted to know what my chances of getting into the University of Oregon are:

I have a 3.11 GPA, 1400 SAT (Other SAT Scores are coming in on the 29th)

I have over 200 hours of community service,
I have 4 years of Varsity Cross Country, 3 Year Captain
I have 4 years of Varsity Soccer, 2 Year Captain
I am a Premier Soccer Player
I have worked at the Anti Defamation League, and AIPAC
I am on the high school school ASB (Student Government)

I am Jewish, White
My Grades went from a 2.5 First Semester Freshman Year to a 3.25 Second Semester Junior Year (Hopefully They See Improvement)
I go to a Private Jewish High School

Just wanted to know what my chances are, and if there is anything I can do to enhance my chances of getting in.

Thanks!

Two years ago you would have been fine. This year, I’m honestly not sure. It depends on how many applications they get (apps are on the rise and getting stronger every year). Are you OOS? Write a strong essay and consider throwing in a recommendation for good measure, and be sure to apply as early as possible. You rising GPA trend will be helpful, so keep it up.

thanks for the reply…i have my heart set on oregon so any information i get on like what i need to do or chances of getting in is really helpful…

what is oos first of all?

i have a very good essay (or at least my counselor said it was one that he would remember and my dad, who is my largest critique helped me out a lot)

i will send in a letter of recomendation for good measure, any good stuff i have to throw at them im sending in (ie recomendation, extra cirruculars)

should my recomendation letter be from a teacher or somebody I worked for, who has a name in the western region?

also, what type of score (that im capaple of obviously) do i need to get that will enhance my chances of getting in, obviously not a 2400, but in the range of say 1400-1700…

also, sorry to keep throwing out the questions:
1: is there anything i can do to put my name in their favour?
2. if i dont do well on the october sat, should i wait for general admission in january
3. if i get rejected in early admission, can i apply again in january…

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!!
