Chances of scholarship being redacted?

I recently got accepted into Arizona State University with the Presidential Scholarship. I am planning on changing my schedule and dropping a class to fit my work in so I can make more money for college, and my admissions counselor said that as long as I complete my high school requirements my scholarship will be in tact. However, I'm concerned that my GPA might go down a notch. It would go from a 3.8 to a 3.7 unweighted but I don't know if that'll affect my scholarship. If I already set my deposit down for admission to the college can they take it away? Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I was wondering if that has happened to anyone else where the college took away your scholarship even if you already paid to attend there?

First, congrats, you must be a great student and very happy with that award.

A .1 change on weighted gpa is insignificant. No one will care. But how can you predict it.?. Srsly?

Second, if you change your schedule and drop a class, you should report it. You got accepted on the basis of your reported schedule. I am in CA and you must report it to UCs or risk your admission rescinded. But it is usually okay if you got approval. I’m sure you should contact admissions and it will be fine.

Sorry ipad typing

My daughter’s merit scholarship is based on gpa and ACT score. There is a grid and how much you get is shown in the box. It may not matter, but then again it may. For example, a 3.8 with an ACT of 27 might be the same as a 3.7 and a 27, or it may drop you into the next lower amount. Just check with the school.

Good point! But they may have given the award on to date stats, not projected. So, it is best to inquire in advance when you can.

Redacted?

^ That was my thought.

^^^
Indeed. I’m guessing the OP meant to use the word “rescinded.”

Retracted?

Redacted belongs in the So Weary thread.

Thank you for all the responses, and sorry guys I’m so horrible with words. I emailed my freshman admissions counselor for my school about the changing of my schedule and she said “As long as you maintain your graduation requirements, your scholarship will still be intact so no need to worry.”. And ASU isn’t particularly a strict school and it sounds like they don’t care? Or my representative is lying to me and just telling me that so they get less paperwork. Whatever the case is, I just hope that .1 in my GPA is insignificant enough so that I do keep my scholarship.

The scholarship is probably based on gpa at end of junior year. That said, unless you will be making enough money to cover the loss of the presidential scholarship with that job of yours, I would recommend confirming that YOU KEEP THE SCHOLARSHIP BEFORE DROPPING YOUR CLASS to take a job. Seriously.
