I really like USC and got in as a spring admit but I do not want to start in the spring. I know a certain number a students are moved up and was wondering what’s the usual rate? Thanks!
There is no “usual” rate. Spring admissions is USC’s waiting list. Some years a lot of people get moved, some years almost none. USC is running ahead on commitments this year, so I bet not very many will be moved this year. No one admitted to the spring wants to start in spring, so you are not alone.
Hey there, I was a transfer spring admit. I hated it because I had already taken so many units at my community college that any additional units I took would no longer be covered by financial aid, so not going to USC in the fall meant a semester of doing nothing and potentially meaning I wouldn’t graduate on time with other junior transfer students. I emailed every single person I could in the Dornsife school (deans, etc) and even sent a letter to the USC prez. Nobody really responded or even seemed to care. I hear that only a small handful are switched, so it’s best not to really count on it sadly. I still went with USC, but I was pretty pissed. So much so, that I was even set to attend UCLA until my advisor informed me of a new major that I couldn’t pass up.
It is not a waiting list. A spot on a waiting list does not assure admittance. This time can be an opportunity to gain experience and earn funds for some college expenses. Check the website for your particular school. Many of the spring admits become acquainted through social media.
I did a search and there are now many colleges/universities that have spring admits.
Has anyone that was accepted for Spring admit been bumped up to Fall yet?
In 2012 the call for bump to fall came on the first Friday in May. So I’m guessing they will make the calls at the end of this week. Good luck!
Thanks!
2012 was the year when USC came up really short on May 1st, so they wasted no time moving students from spring. No one will be moved this week. I would be surprised if anyone is moved until the middle of the month if not later. USC is running far ahead on commitments this year so they are probably in no rush to move many people.
