Chances of Transfer Admission to UT Austin?

Hello,

I've heard a wide range of things such as it is easy to transfer into the College of Liberal Arts and the College of Natural Sciences with a GPA of 3.5 or more, to hearing horror stories of those who have outstanding SAT scores, a 3.8 GPA or higher who don't get accepted as a transfer. Is it just luck, or what?

I was in the top 8% of my high school graduating class, and I am currently attending a community college with a GPA of 3.4 which I am trying to raise to a 3.8. I still have 21 hours at a community college before I am planning to transfer so I have plenty of time to do so and am not too worried about that. I am between a Biology and Psychology major and I've heard that transferring into the College of Liberal Arts isn't too hard but like I said I've also heard horror stories. Please help, UT has always been my dream school and I don't want to get my hopes so high for nothing.

Instead of listening to horror stories, talk to the transfer specialists at your current school. Also, contact UT Austin admissions and ask them what they require and what they look for? You could also ask them if they would put in contact with some other students who have transferred to get their perspective. About 7% of undergraduates transfer into UT which is about the middle of the pack for all institutions. You will not hurt your chances by asking.
