Chances of Transfer?

Applying transfer to CALS for Information Science
I am currently a freshman at BU, comp sci major.

Semester 1:

Writing Seminar : A
Intro to Computing: A
Microeconomics: A
Environmental Science: A

Semester 2:

Computer Science I (Java Programming): A
Calculus I (for engineers) : A-
Writing seminar: B+
Biology 2 : B+

GPA: 3.7878 (~3.8)
(just .1 grade point away meaning 3.7875 is 30.3 grade points and 3.8 is 30.4 grade points)
***note: semester 2 grades arent final, scales are applied at the end of the semester...

My high school GPA was a 3.84 and I was an IB diploma candidate...I took all IB classes junior and senior year.

My standardized tests are a bit weak, but I have been told directly by an admissions officer that they play almost no part in applying to CALS as a transfer.
SATs : 1850
SAT II : Biology-M : 610, Math C1: 630

I have met with multiple people who work at Cornell and other staff, who I think might be giving me recommendations. I am friends with an alum who is still very much involved with the university and he will be giving me a recommendation as well. I have done a lot of research about the IS program and I am a very good fit. Everyone in the IS departemnt i have talked to agrees as well.

I have the usual ECs and such, I also run a small freelance web design business from my dorm room. I spent countless hours on my application perfecting it making sure the essays were as strong as possible, and so on.

Tell me what you think.

anyone? input?

pretty darn good, not taking bio 1 is the only negative I can see from this app, gpa is good and h.s. stats are great.

I would be surprised if you didnt get in. Also nice job on getting a 4.0 at a school with grade deflation, I see that as very strong.

He didn’t get a 4.0…

@ flower, first semester was a 4.0

second semester grades are just midterm so nothing is final. As far as it goes i have been steadily imporving in calc, i began with a B and now have an A- im pretty sure ill get an A by the send of the semester. My writing seminar is graded largely based on improvement and my professor has been known to grade 2/3 of a letter grade down on essays and then grade you up at the end. I would project A’s in both of them.

@Castiel

Im going to take Bio 1 at NYU in the summer and I indicated it on my application

thats good, but they still give preference to those who took it or are taking it
