Chances of transferring into Uconn from NYU

Hi everyone I am a currently a freshman at NYU. I want to transfer to Uconn due to a major change and the price of NYU. Can anyone help me answer a few questions? I am deciding between staying at NYU for the next semester or go to a community college next semester to save money and take more classes. Because NYU is a private school and Uconn is a public school I am worried that my credits will not transfer over and am thinking that going to a community college would be my best bet at receiving credits at Uconn. Can someone tell me which is better to do? I already know that 2 class I am taking now will not transfer over to Uconn. In high school I had a 3.7, very involved inside and outside of school (I had 3 internships throughout high school) and worked for 3 years at a restaurant.I will be an in-state student at Uconn. My SATs scores were very low for NYU, about a 1550. The major I intend to enroll in is not offered at NYU. I am wondering if switching to a community college next semester would lower my chances of being accepted at NYU. Please comment if you have any advice, thank you.

What major do you intend to have? Also, I think that you have a chance at UCONN. I would call the admissions office at UCONN and ask them the questions you just asked. There is no one better to answer your questions than them. They will also tell you what credits will transfer, etc.

I intend to major in Human Development and Family Studies…I do not know how big the program is there. If I were to go to community college next semester I would take a winter session class, then 5 classes in the spring semester, and maybe 1 class in the summer to make up for the credits I lost/ get ahead in credits. At NYU I cannot get into any math classes because my SAT scores were not high enough/ the lowest math class they have is Calculus (I have not taken PreCalc). I would like to have at least one math class credit under my belt before I went to UConn. If I stayed at NYU I feel I would be behind when I transferred to Uconn.

If the major you want is not at NYU, why don’t you just move into Gallatin and create it yourself! NYU is amazing, UCONN is so different, make sure you love the atmosphere before you actually transfer.

Also what were your stats for NYU…. I am a prospective student applying ED1 and im freaking out!!!
