Do you guys think I get a chance to go to these schools? or i should improve my essays and then apply to Michigan/nyu/uc berkeley?

From the UVA Transfer FAQ:
Is the SAT or ACT required for admission?

Yes, however we will waive the testing requirement if you have been out of high school for five years. If a student is applying to Commerce, however, SAT or ACT testing(or the Toefl or IELTS for international students)is REQUIRED for all students seeking admission.

@brishe you are right. i do have TOEFL score as I am an international student. However, I hear people saying UVA prefer students with SAT/ACT scores, not TOEFL scores.

I don’t think any preference (if that’s true) will hurt you really. If you scored high on TOEFL, you’re still competitive. Have you applied to Mich/NYW/UCB already as well? I’m not familiar with their deadlines, but just be aware! Good luck!

I heard that AME is one of the most popular and easiest majors in Cornell, so you know…The business program in UVA is highly selective. Last year, some of my friends got turned down by b-school but accepted by econ. I don’t know if Stern accepts students by major but overall it is way easier to get in as transfer applicants than as high school graduates for international students. No idea of b-school at UTA. Ross only accepts few external transfers. I suggest you to consider Marshall at USC if you really want to leave PSU.

@cheng it’s kind of sad that Ross has only 1% transfer student according to their official stat, but i was thinking maybe less strong candidate would apply, so you know… I did think about Marshall, but I think I just cannot afford their tuition.

@cheng smeal at PSU is ranked like 20+, to be honest the business courses here are relatively not challenging, when compared to the other top b-schools…

@ihatemonday their website says “the McIntire School of Commerce prefers that their non-native English speaking applicants take the SAT or ACT in addition to the TOEFL or IELTS,” but SAT scores is not required, I guess…
