Chances of transferring to JMU?

I have applied to JMU for the Fall of 2011. I was at WVU in the Fall, dropped out in the middle of the semester, went to community college, took some 8-week classes and got 6 credits with a 3.5. Right now I'm taking 15 credits and I think I'll get a 3.5 for this semester. Also going to take English over the summer. I had a 3.4 gpa in high school with a few IB/AP classes, and was tennis captain. SAT scores were 590 reading, 540 math, 600 writing. Btw, I'm a freshman. What are the odds you think I'll get in? Thanks.

Your stats are great and that definitely boosts your chances!
But one thing I’ll worry about if I were you is madison being picky about freshman transfers.
This is from their office of admission:
"In most cases, students will need to have more than one year of college coursework before transferring to JMU. "

I encountered different blogs/forums from past fall transfers and it does seem like a lot of freshman transfers with really solid stats got waitlisted. Haven’t seen rejections though so that’s good news!

I applied to JMU last year after one year of CC work. I had a 3.5, and ended up having a 4.0 for the spring semester, but they still looked a lot at my high school grades, so I got rejected. I only had a 3.0 in HS though (IB program as well), but better SATs. JMU makes seemingly random admissions decisions though - I’ve seen more than qualiifed students get rejected and some underachievers get in.

It may also depend on your WVU status - did you end up with Ws in your classes, or did you fail them?

Probably W’s, but it doesnt really matter because JMU doesn’t know that I was at ever at WVU. I didn’t send them any information/transcripts from WVU. All they see is that I took 2 classes at my community college in the fall.

You may have a big problem. All universities ask for your transcripts from every institution of higher learning you’ve attended. If they find out you’ve lied on your application you will automatically be rejected.
If I were you, I’d ask about this on the Parent’s forum or the Admissions forum where people with much more detailed knowledge about this situation can give you answers about this.

It may be a different situation since you dropped out before the end of the semester, but Joblue is right; you should check ASAP to make sure this information wasn’t necessary.
