Hey @sbuadmissions I have a question regarding myself transferring to stony for this fall 2019 enrollment. So I did really horribly my first year of college while dealing with depression and subsequently failed basically everything and I was not happy at my school. I started pulling myself together this past year and have a 2.386 GPA as of summer 2018 and am taking 5 classes this semester and will be receiving all A’s and that will bring my GPA to a 2.809 and I will be taking 3 classes in this winter of 2019 and that should bring my GPA to a 2.962. In my case would admissions typically be asking for my spring 2019 grades before making a decision whether to admit me or not? I called the office of admissions and they were not very helpful. They just stated that as long as I’m very close to that 3.0 minimum GPA I have a good chance.
Transfer applicants are required to have performed well in a strong academic program, having completed at least 24 credits with a GPA of 3.0 or higher by the time they submit their application.
If you have earned fewer than 24 credits at the time of application, your high school transcripts and SAT scores must also be submitted (only students with strong secondary school credentials will be considered for admission). If you are currently a first-semester freshman enrolled at another college or university and applying as a transfer to Stony Brook, we may either: (1) make a decision based on the strength of your high school accomplishments and pending receipt of your college transcript, or (2) defer our decision until we receive a copy of your college transcript (please note: space in our transfer class is limited and campus housing may not be available).
Hello, I have a question. How significantly would an admitted student’s grades have to drop in order for the student to have their acceptance to SBU be rescinded?
