Chances of transferring to UVA?

Hey guys, I'm currently a Sophomore Finance major at the University of South Carolina, Moore School of Business. School here has been great, but it is time for me to aspire towards another University that has more to offer than USC. I was wondering if you could comment if you think I have a good chance at these schools or not, what I should do better so I can get in, or feel free to comment on other schools you think I should apply to as well.

It is only the Fall semester as of now, so I wont be applying until next semester for the admission of Fall 2013 to wherever I get accepted to. Now, my list of schools are as follows: Fordham, University of Virginia, Villanova, Georgetown (Reach), and NYU.

Here are my college credentials for my first 1 and a half years... (Keep in mind this can change because it is only Fall semester as of now).

Overall GPA: 3.6
Finance GPA: 4.0
Ec's: Analyst of the Financial sector for the Carolina Investment Association, member of Pi Kappa Alpha Xi Chapter, Interning at AXA Equitable this semester, Pi Kappa Alpha Accounts Receivable, Finance Club, Delta Sigma Iota Honors Society, have a good amount of Community Service hours. - Made Deans list this semester. Also I am on a partial scholarship to this school.
- Also I do a lot outside of school to strive at my interest in Finance. I have been a student of Wall Street Prep outside of class which ends in February 2013 where I will get my certification in Financial modeling. I will also be interning for Merrill Lynch in my Spring semester 2013 (However this wont be able to go on my app because I would have already filled it out then).
- I will make sure my Essay is stellar. I consider myself a decent writer. Also, I can get 2 rec letters from core Finance class professors.

Some High School Stats (Even though I don't think these will matter since I will transfer as a Junior)

GPA: 3.4
SAT: 1880 out of 2400
High honors Junior year, member of the Future Business Leaders of America. Church projects and service hours.

I know, I wasn't too bright in High School. Hopefully that doesn't hurt. So please comment and let me know what you think my chances are for these schools, or what I should do better etc. Also, comment if you think I should apply to other schools besides the ones on my list.

are you a VA resident?

I’d add the Merrill Lynch internship this spring as well as applications aren’t due until March…takes all of 10 min to update the resume/add to the common application…assuming you’re a VA resident I think UVA is a very reasonable target and likely you’re in…agree that G-town will be tough but GW is a good bet if you wanna be downtown DC.

Okay great so it would be reasonable to add my internship even though it wont begin for a few months? And also, I am an out of state resident unfortunately. Will this affect my chances?

I wouldn’t add it unless you’ve started it by the date you submit the app. OOS does make it harder…SC your home state?

mention it in your personal statement if it has any relevance.

My home state is NJ. So you really think that wont help? I mean I am definitely starting in February. I don’t see how that would be something I should leave out. Furthermore, do you think a 3.6 is good enough for McIntire?

Being an out of state transfer student and speaking in true honesty, I do not think a 3.6 GPA is competitive enough for McIntire.
