Chances of Transferring to Yale

I'm a freshman at Rice. My dream has always been to graduate from Yale. I was wondering what you thought of my chances of admission.

My particulars:

College:
GPA - 3.85 during first semester at Rice
extracurriculars - pretty good (leadership positions in two prominent clubs)
(midterm reports may be less impressive than first semester)
Decent letter of rec

High School:
GPA - 3.7 from top high school in ny
extracurriculars - very impressive (president of stud gov and a few clubs, athlete, arts, volunteering, etc.)
classes taken - pretty rigorous (lots of AP credit)
SAT - 1350/2100
Really impressive letters of rec

What are my chances? Thanks for your input!!

Your chances are low. Very low… but I’m not saying that because of your resume, it’s just that Yale accepts approximately 3% of transfer applicants every year.
It’s probably the most brutal competition there is. I have to say though, HS and College GPA are pretty good.
But SAT out of 2100?? I’m confused.

Thank you for your feedback. I really appreciate it!

Just to clarify… SAT 1350/2100 = SAT 1350/1600; 2100/2400

My son is going to yale this fall. When we visited the school in april 09, we met a guy who was transferring from Rice so it can happen. The transfer acceptance rate is just so low that the best you can do is try. I know that the kid we talked to said that they liked his essay.

Oh… I feel stupid. Yup transferring to Yale is definitely possible. It’s just that chancing for it is almost impossible. Just cross your fingers and hope for the best!
I’m also applying as a transfer.
Good luck!
