Hello. I am currently a freshman at UMass Lowell and I applied to transfer to UMass Amherst for Fall 2014. In my first semester, I ended with a 3.87 GPA, and this semester I gave them an unofficial status report of around a 3.7 GPA. I was denied when I applied in High school. My SAT was 1520. High school GPA was 2.9. Do I have a chance of getting in, since I had to send them my SAT score and high school GPA since I have less than 27 credits?

I think you definitely stand a chance of getting in! The point of the high school stats are to determine whether or not you are capable of college-level work, so if you already have 2 semesters of college work under your belt with a 3.7/3.87 GPA, then that will be weighed much more heavily than your high school GPA. I wish you luck!

I’m in the same position right now and I’m very scared that I won’t be able to be transferred in because of my low grades in HS but I know I’m gonna work harder after I get into a state college.
