Chances of U Michigan

I’m an out-of-state applicant who is a lower class first generation Asian. My Weighted GPA is 4.2, I’m not quite sure what my UW is. I took 8 AP Classes (2 Sophomore year, 4 Junior year, 2 Senior year). My SAT score is 1450 and ACT is 31. MY EC’s are playing travel soccer for about 6 years, 4 years of Varsity Track and Field, 1 Year of JV Soccer, 2 Year of Varsity Soccer, and some clubs that I’ve participated in. I volunteered 80 hours at a local school as a Teacher/Tutor. I have taken the highest level of math the school offers which is Multi-Var, took AP Comp Sci A, AP Chem, AP Physics 1 and C, AP Calc BC, and STEM engineering. I was wondering if I should risk my acceptance chance by applying to the engineering school or to go in undeclared and apply later on.

We are literally in the same boat! Also looking at UofM, also wanna do engineering, also have a 31… From advice given to me by counselors and teachers along with my own research I would recommend going undeclared, applying to a schools engineering in general makes admissions more difficult. I think we are both around the middle 50% for UofM test scores but for the engineering program the average ACT is much higher. I would make it easier on yourself and apply undeclared. From one hopeful future Wolverine to another.

Thanks for the reply! Good luck with everything and hopefully we’ll both get accepted.
