Hello,

I was wondering what my chances were of getting into the Wharton Undergraduate Business School with a total of 5 Bs. I received 3 Bs my freshman year (in 3 honors courses) and 2 Bs my sophomore year (in two honors courses). Junior year, I received all As, with 3 APs and 3 honors courses. Would the pattern of improvement heighten my chances?

Sidenote: My school does not reveal rank. I think it's due to the very high level of competition here.

I'm hoping to just receive a general idea. I haven't weighed in extracurriculars or SAT/ACT scores. Am I right in thinking that GPA is the first filter, and that if GPA isn't up to par, I'm not even in consideration?

Thanks so much!

Also thinking of applying ED. Does this change anything?

Bump!

Someone please help!

Factoring in all A’s junior year, your gpa, unweighted, ends up being about 3.8. That’s a little low, but won’t keep you out. In Wharton, especially, they’re looking for a few things apart from GPA. Wharton requires its students to be great at math, since Finance is very quantitative, so get good SAT and SAT II Math scores. Also, show leadership in ECs as much as possible. Starting your own business, dabbling in stocks, investment, etc. won’t hurt either

Also, try not to bump after 20 minutes lol; wait at least a day. CC is an active place, but not THAT active.

Thanks Nihilus. Yeah, I’m a new member so I’m still figuring out how to use this. I’m also really impatient haha

Anyone else?

Well since you are a junior, and rising senior soon, you should have some SAT or ACT scores…

Why don’t you post them for more thorough review:

actual unweighted GPA

SAT / ACT

SAT II

State

Since most of your Bs occurred in freshman year and you show an upward trend, which is good. Regarding applying ED, I am not so sure. (1) Would having stellar grades in the first half of senior year be better and applying RD or (2) applying ED with only junior year stellar grades be enough? I think it also depends whether you have great standardized tests to support ED or not.
