Chances on Admission and Honors

Hey guys,

I was just wondering what my chances would be of getting into these San Diego State University and perhaps their honors program. I'm an entering Senior this year.

Here what i have so far:

GPA: 3.1 w (i know its not so great, but only one aspect) It might also be up to 3.4w (it's a weird situation about transferring.)
SAT: 1860; 700 Math, 590 Writing, 570 Reading
ACT: 28
by the way, i will be retaking both of those very soon

Next Year I'll be taking
AP Comp Sci
AP Stats
& Anayltic Geometry and Calculus at my Community College

I've already taken (didn't do so well though)
AP World History - 1
AP United States History - 2
AP Physics B - 3

Varsity Tennis for 2 Years
Track and Field for 2 Years
Cross Country for 1 year

Community Service: I also have been serving at my church every other week since February.

In about 3 clubs. I'm also planning on creating one this coming year.

Ethnicity: African American Male

State: California

So, i was wondering if:
1) I will be accepted
2) Make it into Honors

Also, how is SDSU?

1) yes
2) don't know enough about the honors system to tell you

Thanks! Anyone else out there know about the honors?? bump_/_

anyone out there possibly know???

bump_____________/__

1) yes
2) I probably would not aim for the honors program in your freshman year. What you should do is take the necessary classes and shoot for the stars. When you get your 3.5 or higher, they'll INVITE you to join the honors program during your sophomore year as well as an influx of other various honor societies with no problem.

oh okay. Thank you for the feedback and advice. That's very interesting.

Do you know if it's difficult to transfer out from SDSU?

bump_/

you can easily leave sdsu, just stop attending.

but transferring into another school will vary depending on the school you want to go. it will be easy to transfer to other csu's but hard to transfer to cal or ucla if thats what your thinking.

what about other uc's though? like UCI,UCSD, .etc

uci and ucsd will be pretty hard to get into. you will have to transfer after your sophomore and keep a good gpa and completing their requirements not sdsu.

that will be hard to work out, if you want to go to uci or ucsd, its better to just attend a community college from the start. easier classes, easier to complete pre-reqs, plus priority.
