Im planning to apply for

  • UCLA
  • BU (maybe early decision)
  • GA Tech
  • UIUC
  • U of Michigan
  • NYU
  • UT Austin
  • U of Wisconsin Madison

Thanks for reading

UCLA- Reach
BU- Match
Ga Tech- High Match
UIUC- not really sure how engineering admissions here works. Probably a match or high match I would guess but I’m not too sure.
Michigan- Reach
NYU- Match (I would think twice about engineering here. It’s not on the main campus and relatively new)
UT austin- Texas is notoriously unpredictable unless your top 7 percent instate. I would say low reach.
Wisconsin- Match

You have a good list of schools but you need safeties. Your instate for CU Boulder and they have some great engineering/physics. Might wanna apply there as a safety.

Thank you  I was going to apply a few instates for safety including school of mines and boulder

At many state flagship type of schools and some private school, admissions may be done by division or major, and engineering majors tend to be more popular than physics relative to departmental capacity. So engineering applicants are likely to face a higher bar to get admitted.

Of course, if one enrolls not in the desired engineering major, attempting to change into an oversubscribed engineering major at such a school can be difficult and require a high college GPA and/or competitive admission process.
